I'm a Seattle bicyclist training for the 2010 Ragbrai in Iowa. Follow me as I bike Seattle, on my trusty Trek, visiting bakeries, parks, trails, and neighborhoods.
My last great ride of the Fall was the first weekend of November. I didn't have anything to do on Sunday, it looked to be the last warm sunny day for the next few months, and my roomate was spending the whole day at the office. So, I jumped on my bike and started riding. I rode along a river towards the next town. There were lots of bikers on the rode and I rang my bell at all of them. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the last warm ride of the season.
ReplyDeleteAfter a while I had what I considered a "Ragbrai moment". I was starting to get a little fatigued, and was just about to run out of water. I started thinking to myself about how I could probably go for a rest and some food. A few minutes later I pulled up to a nice small town and proceeded to have an amazing lunch, delicious beer, and a fabulous dessert.
In this case the town was Dexter, the lunch was a Pub Club at Dexter's Pub where I also had an Octoberfest from Bell's Brewery, and I topped it off with donuts from the cider mill.
It was a great day of riding. I rode about 30 miles. My only complaints were that my roomate could go with me, and that almost all the leaves were already off the trees. Now I have my leggings, gloves, and wool socks out and am ready for some winter riding. Bring on the snow!
